Description of work
T6.1 TEL Science 2.0 Mash-up initiation and evolution (UKOU)
Within this task we will set up the mash-up infrastructure and make it available first within STELLARnet and in a second step to the wider TEL community. We will develop a variety of mash-ups of mainstream tools and more specialized research oriented tools from the partners. These mash-ups will be available on the STELLARnet web site (e.g. in the form of widgets to be easily embedded into web-applications). The work to be undertaken will involve the following steps for each of the yearly cycles: requirements gathering, design of mash-up, implementation of mash-up, evaluation of mash-up.
T6.2 Open Archive and scientific dissemination portal (UJF)
We will stimulate the development of the use of the open archives as part of a scientific portal by STELLARnet researchers by offering this service in cooperation with the existing TeLearn OA (www.telearn.org) and providing the support to researchers in order to facilitate the upload and use of the repository. This task will include the creation of the STELLAR scientific portal as a layer of the TeLearn Open Archive, securing the continuity and availability of the archive, monitoring the use of the portal and enhance its international visibility.
T6.3 Tools and support for Science 2.0 evaluation (KUL, KC)
This task will support the evaluation of the adoption of Science 2.0 practices and to contribute to encourage it by enhancing the tools provided. After initial progress it will be conducted in close cooperation with WP7 (evaluation) and the WP 1-5 to which WP6 is instrumental. This task includes the development of monitoring procedures and tools, designing and implementing instruments for use analysis, collecting data on quantitative indicators, deriving measures for take-up support of Science 2.0 practices.
WP6 will be lead by UJF which will also be responsible for the Open Archive task (T6.2) and the related Science 2.0 developments. UKOU will lead the Mash-up task (T6.1). KUL and KC will co-lead the task dedicated to supporting the evaluation of the use of the Science 2.0 tools and support with a close collaboration with WP7. This collaboration will be enhanced by the contribution of ZSI which is the leading partner of WP7.
