The Scientific Capacity Committee oversees the work in the instruments Theme Teams, Incubator Grants, and the Alpine Rendez-Vous to ensure due diligence. The board incorporates partners active in the work package on building researcher capacity (WP3) of STELLARnet to proactively shape the instruments along their evaluation and to ensure alignment with the other work packages where needed.

The board supervises the activities in the scope of WP3 and keeps them in line with the established objectives:

  • Definition of the thematic scope
  • Ensurance of due diligence
  • Evaluation of all Calls in relation to the WP3 instruments (Alpine Rendez-Vous: Workshops, Theme Teams, Incubator Grants)
  • Selection of workshops for the Alpine Rendez-Vous
  • Selection of speakers for the Alpine Rendez-Vous
  • Approval of the Excellence Awards
  • Monitoring of the distribution of money

To include the Scientific Capacity Committee in all actions stated above, regular online and face-to-face meetings have been and will be arranged. In some cases the board members vote asynchronously via email.

Nicolas Balacheff Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) The senior scientist has been the coordinator within the kaleidoscope network and provides the board with a lot of experience in respect to networks. He also is the president of TEL-EARC. Nicolas Balacheff is leading WP6 .
Rosa Maria Bottino Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche - Instituto per le tecnologie didattiche (CNR-ITD) Senior Researcher of the Italian National Research Counsil (CNR). She is currently the Director of the CNR Institute on Educational Technology (ITD). Dr. Bottino is part of WP3 and in this scope in charge of two instruments Theme Teams and Incubator Grants.
Daniel Burgos Atos Origin (ATOS) Head of TEL Unit in the Research & Innovation Department. Full Professor of Learning Technologies at the International University of La Rioja. He took part in ProLearn and Kaleidoscope, is member of TELEARC and TELSpain. Daniel Burgos is the representative of the industries and works in WP3-4-5.
Pierre Dillenbourg Ecole Polytechnique Federale Lausanne (EPFL) The full professor in the school of computer science and director of CRAFT, the teacher service unit has been the founder of the Alpine Rendez-Vous Series in Kaleidoscope and represents WP3.

The professor of education and educational psychology is the WP3 leader and chair of the Scientific Capacity Committee.
Francesca Pozzi Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche - Instituto per le tecnologie didattiche (CNR-ITD) The TEL researcher has a special interest in CSCL and is mainly involved in the WP3 instruments Theme Teams and Incubator Grants.
Peter Scott The Open University, UK (OU) The coordinator of the STELLAR network of excellence is also the director of the Knowledge Media Institute KMi at the OU. He is president also of EA-TEL e.V.
Hans Spada Albert-Ludwig University of Freiburg (ALU-FR) The professor of psychology and experienced researcher in the field of technology-enhanced knowledge communication is also very experienced in national and international advisory boards and part of WP4.
Marcus Specht Open University of the Netherlands (OUNL) The professor for advanced learning technologies and co-ordinator of the CELSTEC laboratories represents WP5 TEL Community Level Capacity and is a member of EA-TEL.
