The Istituto Tecnologie Didattiche (ITD) is one of the research institutes of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). It was created in 1970 and recently expanded in the framework of the process or reorganization of the whole National Research Council. The Institute, which is located in Genova and has a branch in Palermo, is the only one fully dedicated to research in Technology Enhanced Learning. Currently it has a core permanent staff of 31 units (25 researchers and 6 support staff), 10 research fellowships and 7 associated PhD students. The Institute is strongly interdisciplinary with expertise which includes informatics, mathematics, physics, linguistics, psychology, pedagogy. ITD research is mainly focused on innovative technology based environments for enhancing teaching and learning processes. The Institute was involved in FP5 and FP6 projects and in the network of Excellence Kaleidoscope with leading roles. ITD has also participated with a leading role to many national programs and cooperates with continuity with Italy's Ministry of Education on the application of information and communication technology to school education. ITD is involved mainly in WP 2 and WP 6. For both of them it has a specific interest and expertise coming from previous involvement in EC and national projects. Moreover, with some of the partners of STELLAR, ITD has long lasting connections and/or collaborations (E.g. METAH, INTERMEDIA, Bristol University, etc.) In addition to the staff listed below, Early Career Researcher (non permanent staff) will also be involved in the planned work.
