Get Scholarships for Doctoral Events

PhD candidates can apply for scholarships to participate in sponsored events.

First, the PhD candidates have to apply to a chosen event. Then, if accepted, the PhD candidates can apply for STELLAR scholarships.

Application Guidelines for Scholarships

Preliminary information

This application procedure targets Individual event participants (not their home institution). The scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis. Scholarships can cover separately or together (depending on the event), participation fees, accommodation and/or travel expenses.

Application and decision procedures

Individual applicants should submit their resume and additional information using the online application form. In addition, a letter of support should be provided by the applicant’s PhD adviser stating that the scholarship is necessary for the PhD research work and that no other European funding is available to cover the applicant participation. 

Decisions will be taken by the DAB, in the same manner described for sponsorship of events. The same procedures specified for timetables, report of participation and criteria, also apply in this case. 

STELLAR requests all beneficiaries of a STELLAR scholarship to write a report after the end of the event summarising the outcome, to be made available on the Stellar Community of Practice platform. Beneficiaries also have to fill an online questionnaire accessible on the STELLAR Web site (under construction).

Condition

In case of non-particpation, the applicant has to give back the awarded scholarship.

The PhD adviser and the PhD applicant should provide their email address and accept to be listed as members of the PhD TEL Community of Practice. STELLAR will never distribute this information without previous agreement of the people concerned.

During the event, the applicant has to sign a list of attendance made available by the organiser.

If the scholarship covers expenses paid directly by the participant, they could be claimed after the event and once the report has been delivered using the claim form which will be provided by STELLAR. Original bills and receipts should be provided. Only the actual costs, up to the maximum amount stated, are reimbursed.
